The first question anyone asks before renovating is always the same: how much will it cost? And the honest answer is: it depends. It depends on the size of the space, the materials chosen, the condition of the existing plumbing and the finishes you want.

What we can guarantee is that after visiting your space, we deliver a detailed and fixed quote — the agreed price is the final price. No surprises on your invoice.

Below you'll find price ranges by type of work, what is included in each, and the factors that influence the final cost.

What Affects the Final Price?

Two apparently similar projects can have very different costs. These are the factors that matter most:

Size of the space

The larger the space, the more materials and labour required. A 4 m² bathroom and a 10 m² bathroom are completely different projects.

Plumbing condition

Old lead or galvanised steel pipes need to be fully replaced, which represents a significant additional cost.

Materials chosen

The difference between standard tiles and microcement with a stone finish can be €3,000 to €5,000 in wall and floor coverings alone.

Structural complexity

Moving walls, relocating the toilet or shower involves additional plumbing and electrical work.

Access and location

Apartments on upper floors without a lift, or locations outside the Porto/North area, may incur additional travel and logistics costs.

Urgency

Projects that need to start immediately or on a very tight schedule may cost more than usual.

What is a Fixed Quote?

A fixed quote is exactly what it sounds like: the price on paper is the price you pay at the end. No last-minute extras, no "we found a problem we hadn't foreseen" that suddenly doubles the invoice.

At Ferreira Obras, we never start a project without first visiting the space. That visit is what allows us to carry out a thorough survey and deliver a detailed, line-by-line quote with everything included.

If something unexpected arises during the work (for example, a serious hidden plumbing issue), we let you know immediately — we explain what's involved, present the options and only proceed with your approval. There are never any surprises on your invoice.

All work also comes with a written 2-year guarantee. If anything goes wrong, we come back at no extra cost.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pricing

Is the quote free?

Yes. The site visit and detailed quote are completely free and with no commitment. We visit, assess the space and deliver a written quote within 48 hours.

Can I request a quote without knowing exactly what I want?

Absolutely. That's precisely what the visit is for — to understand your space, listen to your needs and help you define the project. You don't need to have everything decided upfront.

Does the price include materials and labour?

Yes. Our quote always includes labour, materials and project management. There are no hidden costs. What's in the quote is what you pay.

How does payment work?

Typically in three stages: a deposit before work begins, an interim payment when a certain phase is reached, and the remainder at the end — after your approval and inspection. The exact terms are always set out in the contract before work starts.

Do you work throughout Northern Portugal?

Yes. Our main area covers Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Espinho, Santa Maria da Feira and São João da Madeira. We also work in Ovar, Arouca, Oliveira de Azeméis, Vale de Cambra and surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether we cover your location, get in touch.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

A simple renovation takes 1 to 2 weeks. A full renovation with microcement takes 2 to 4 weeks. The exact timeframe is always stated in the contract and is our commitment to you.
