The kitchen everyone wants
More prep space, a place to eat, a focal point for the room. A well-designed island turns a kitchen into the heart of the home. We plan, build and finish it — with our own team.
The honest answer depends on the room. As a rule, you need at least 90 cm of clear circulation space on each side of the island. That means a minimum room width of around 3.5 m for a standard island. But even in tighter spaces, a peninsula — an island attached to the wall on one side — can achieve the same effect.
We assess your space, propose the right solution and give you a realistic 3D idea of how it will look before work begins. We've done this in apartments in Porto, houses in Gaia and villas in Espinho — and we can manage the whole project remotely for emigrants who want their Portuguese home transformed.
What we build
Custom-built island units to your exact dimensions, in the same finish as the main kitchen or in a contrasting tone for visual interest. All plumbing and electrical work routed through the island structure.
Quartz for durability, natural stone for character, microcement for an editorial contemporary feel. The worktop defines the island — we help you choose what's right for your home.
Induction or gas hob flush-fitted into the island. We install the extraction hood above — ceiling-mounted or integrated into a bespoke box structure.
One or two sides extended to overhang for bar stools. We specify the correct overhang (minimum 250 mm) for comfortable seating and kneeroom.
Two or three pendants hung at the right height over the island, on a dedicated circuit. We coordinate with your electrician or handle it directly.
Drawers, shelving, wine rack, pull-out bins — the island interior is as considered as the exterior. Every centimetre used.
